¿What is the Counter Strike ¿Is it a MOD or a Game?
In the beginning, Counter Strike was a Half Life MOD, so Half Life was a requirement to play.
In 2002, The complete Retail Counter Strike CD Version was released, with this version it wasn't neccesary to have the Half Life game.
Anyway, if you want to play you will need the game as here you can only find the CS update. If you don't have the game, we have a free no-steam Counter Strike version available.

I'm lost. I have no idea which one should I donwload. What can I do?¿Qué hago?
Don't worry, if you have Counter Strike downloaded inside the Half Life you should download CS 1.5. I fyou have it installed with no Half Life, thus you have the retail CD version, so you have to download CS 1.0.0.5 version.

There's still several version of each kind. ¿What should i do?
If you have CS 1.4 already installed, you have to download the lighter version called csv1415.exe. If you have a previous version (CS 1.0 or CS 1.3) you should download the FULL version csv15full.exe
In the case of the Reatil version, is the same, if you have 1.0.0.4 you should download the scs10041005.exe version. If you don't have this version, but you have CS Retail installed, you should download the file scs1005.exe

I have an error after installing. FILE valve/client.dll have not found.
That means you have installed the 1.5 version instead of the 1.0.0.5 version, or the 1.0.0.5 instead of the 1.5. Try with the other version and/or read the previous questions to find the right file to download.

In spite of installing the right version, I can't play in the internet.
The current version is CS 1.6 so you can play with bots/LAN/Offline to CS 1.5, people is still playing this non-Steam version, but if you want CS 1.6 you will need the Steam platform if you want to play the original game. It can be downloaded HERE/b>
